Our last vintage from the Walker Vine Hill Vineyard is the final step in its long journey with Donelan Family Wines. This bittersweet ending finishes on an incredibly high note, leaving no cliffhangers. Years of identifying variations within the site came to an epic conclusion in the 2013 vintage, with the segmentation of 14 distinct lots. The 2013 Walker Vine Hill is evidence of our growth in winemaking, from identifying the unique attributes of a vineyard to understanding optimum pick dates and how to treat each lot in the cellar.Visit Our Store
We feel that this is Russian River Syrah at its best. The Walker Vine Hill Vineyard is comprised of mostly Goldridge loam soil, giving the resulting grape clusters unreal depth and complexity. The vineyard was planted at different stages with different clones, which gave us a wide variety of raw ingredients to learn from.
Native-yeast, whole-cluster fermentation (40-50% depending on vintage) followed by 20 months élevage in French oak barrels (25% new).

The final blend is driven by an extremely seductive nose with chocolate covered blueberries, red currants, and clove unfolding on the nose. The palate is densely constructed with velvety tannins and a long, full finish.
